The first workshop on the National Aviation Safety Plan was held today in Sana'a, organized by the Aviation Safety and Security Sector of CAMA.
The workshop aimed at introducing the activities of CAMA and the national plan for the aviation safety of the Republic of Yemen and clarifying what has been achieved during the past period regarding the global audit of the safety in Yemen.
At the workshop, which was attended by Deputy Chairman of CAMA – Mr. Mohammed Al-Sharif, Undersecretary of the MOT for the Air Transport Sector – Mr. Abdullah Al-Ansi, Deputy Chairman Assistants and Directors General of CAMA, H.E. the Minister of Transport - Zakaria Al-Shami, indicated the importance of the workshop to determine the national plan for the local , regional and international civil aviation safety and security in the light of the national vision to build the modern state. He said that in light of the workshop, strategic policies will be drawn up to improve and update the safety and security of civil aviation in all its fields according to the requirements of the ICAO. He explained the need to activate the work of all sectors of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology indicating that CAMA is working professionally in the implementation of its internal and international functions in the field of civil aviation. Al-Shami pointed out the need to implement the safety program and working on its development and update in line with international requirements in its stages and according to a timetable. On his part, the Chairman of CAMA, Dr. Mohammed Abdulkader, explained the importance of the workshop in the field of safety and security of civil aviation. He explained that CAMA carry out its regulatory, and supervisory competences on the safety of air navigation and civil aviation and air transport. He emphasized the need to highlight the most important element of the safety and security of civil aviation contained in the international document, most notably in the legislative and technical aspects, regulations and systems indicating that any breach of it is a breach of the system of the safety of air navigation and civil aviation. On his part, the Deputy Chairman Assistant of the Aviation Safety and Security Sector - Dr. Abdulhamid Abu Taleb, indicated the importance of the safety of the lives of passengers and civil aviation. He expressed his thanks to the leadership of the MOT and CAMA for supporting the efforts of the aviation safety and security sector in meeting its needs and solving the challenges faced in the implementation of its work. During the workshop, working papers on the safety and security of domestic and international aviation were presented by a number of specialists and technicians in the aviation safety and security sector. Participants in the workshop recommended that the Aviation Safety and Security Plan should be implemented in accordance with the specified timetable, and the coordination with the relevant government agencies and supporting CAMA in keeping up with and developing mandatory aviation safety reports in accordance with ICAO instructions. They emphasized the importance of communicating with the concerned authorities related to aviation safety at the international level to enhance the functions of civil aviation in its various fields.
